Diatom cultures from Lake Baikal

We recently received our cultures from Siberia. These are the isolations we did over a two month period on the shores of Lake Baikal this summer. It seems that some of the established cultures (against the odds) made it through three express shipments and two customs offices. They are now sitting hapilly, we hope, in fresh media at our lab at UT Austin. Read more of this story and see some pictures at the Baikal Dimensions of Diversity Blog
