A couple of weeks back we got notified that our paper on Diploneis from ancient Lake Ohrid was published in Diatom Research. Its been a while since this study started so its really nice to see it out. Thanks to my collaborators Eci and Zlatko for this nice paper.
Every once in a while I write a post for the Lake Baikal Dimensions of Biodiversity blog. This is a collaborative website where we try to share interesting tidbits about the world’s most amazing lake. The idea, to pool scientific, cultural and personal stories tied to Lake Baikal, came at the onset of our NSF funded research project about the functional and genetic diversity of endemic plankton. Here is a link to my latest contribution. Its about a new diatom book that describes a couple of hundred new species from Lake Baikal.
